Press Release

GUELPH, ON – November 30, 2022 – Medline Canada is proud to announce that its Guelph distribution centre has been designated LEED® Certified.

LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a globally recognized symbol of excellence in green building. The certification confirms that all aspects of the distribution centre were built to be energy and resource efficient, producing electricity cost savings and lower carbon emissions.

“Since planning of the Guelph distribution centre started, our aim was to construct a building that was, at its core, sustainable,” said Jot Aujla, Vice President, Operations, Medline Canada. “Becoming LEED Certified is an exciting milestone as we continue to promote stewardship of the environment and create an eco-friendlier future for our employees, customers and communities.”

The 600,000 sq ft. distribution centre, which officially opened in November 2021, has one the largest medical inventory and storage capacity facilities in Canada, distributing a wide variety of medical supplies and equipment. LEED certification ensures the distribution centre meets strict environmental operating requirements, such as implementing a green cleaning policy, partaking in sustainable purchasing and embracing material recycling and storage.

Medline is committed to implementing scalable and eco-friendly practices to help tackle climate change. With industrial buildings responsible for a large amount of resource consumption and energy use, the Guelph centre’s LEED certification is an example of Medline taking action where it matters most.

As of 2022, 98% of Medline’s distribution centers in the U.S. are LEED certified or pending certification, representing over 19.2 million sq. ft. out of a total 19.7 million square feet. Conserving energy and other resources is critical to curbing climate change and an integral part of achieving ISO 14001 certification.

As Medline continues to expand in Canada, we are dedicated to being environmental leaders in the health care sector, protecting our future by protecting our planet.
